About
Starlight
Welcome To Starlight!
I'm Brynn Wagner, the owner and director at Starlight Theatre OC, which is one of my favorite roles I get to play in life. I'm also a pastor's wife, worship leader & songwriter. My parents were in show business...my mom danced internationally & my dad was a singer/songwriter & an actor on stage & in film.
As I like to say to the kids, I have 'over half a hundred years' of experience since I began singing at age 4 and acting at age 12. My older siblings taught me to sing melody & harmony while one sister played piano. When I was 12, my Mom took me & my older sister to audition for a play, Peter Pan, at a community theatre. I got the role of Wendy while my sister got the role of Mrs. Darling. I really enjoyed that first play experience being with my sister, seeing behind-the-scenes & props, getting to fly across the stage attached to wires & jump on a bed BUT I didn't know very many of my lines & that was the beginning of my journey to overcoming stage fright. Because of my own experiences, I'm equipped to help children become more confident with performing in front of a crowd. It's a wonderful privilege to see a child overcome whatever is holding them back.

Although I've been privileged to play many lead roles in musicals such as Sound Of Music, Hello Dolly, South Pacific & Into The Woods, one of my favorite roles was Eliza Doolittle of My Fair Lady. I've also been fortunate for several years to have played an original part written for me, Nellie Wiggins, in an adaptation of the Christmas Carol which is a large Christmas production at Calvary Chapel Of The Harbour in H.B.

Starlight Theatre OC focuses on teaching Kids/Teen Casts, ages 6-17, to draw out their talents & hone their acting & singing skills by rehearsing, then performing Jr. Broadway Musicals. I aim to raise the standards of children's theatre performances by working with children specifically on memorizing lines, singing in-tune, projecting vocals, developing their character roles & acting abilities. In the past 2 years, I've added Adult casts again, ages 18 & up.

In addition to our Adult & Kid/Teen Casts performing musicals, we've expanded our theatre productions to include plays such as Agatha Christie's Murder Mystery Mousetrap, The Realm, Twelve Angry Jurors & The Hobbit. These productions are being Produced & Directed by some of our young & upcoming people. Our youngest Director was 16 yrs old!
The youth are our future and those of us with years of experience need to share with the next generation. It is my privilege to pass on my experience to these eager, amazing, talented & entertaining kids, teens & those who are young at heart!

Becky Hanlon has been involved in theater for most of her life, starting at the age of 9. She has been blessed to play various lead roles including Fantine in Les Misérables, Joe March in Little Women, Puck in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Peter Pan and Wendy Darling in Peter Pan, and Belle in Beauty and The Beast. She spent over 9 years with Alethia Christian Theater performing at the Long Beach Playhouse, Attic Theater, and Huntington Beach Library Theater. She now loves getting to perform with Starlight Theatre! Becky has also had the pleasure of directing children’s musicals at Village Bible Church and has made her directorial debut at Starlight with its production of The Hobbit. Since her debut performance as Mollie in Starlight’s production of Mousetrap, Becky has loved being a part of this special theater. From performing and directing, assisting at rehearsals, and securing props, to learning and running sound and lights, she is thrilled to officially be a part of the Starlight Theatre OC staff and family!

Nancy Nelson, lovingly known as 'Grandma Nancy' has been with Starlight since Brynn Wagner's direction & ownership. She is a launderer, mender of costumes, finder & builder of props, runner of errands, all around friend and helper extraordinaire. She also helps dress kids, and gives them water when they're thirsty. The theatre wouldn't be the same without her.
